Dear Mr. President,

we learnt with indignation and disdain that the Supreme Court of the country you rule has sentenced four people to death by stoning in the city of Mashhad and that the same barbarian sentence has been pronounced against Mrs. Shanaz in August 2003. By allowing such rude and atrocious violations of human dignity, the country you rule takes a position beyond any human civilization.

You may be absolutely certain, that we shall do anything in our power in order to make such medieval religious terror known and you may also be certain that we shall not stop to do so until this terror will be ended and replaced by the original human rights.

We call on you
– to put an end to such barbarian punishments as stoning and to any other violation of human rights and human dignity from religious motives immediately,
– to cancel the sentences against Mrs. Shanaz as well as against the four persons in Mashhad immediately and to set these persons free at once.
