Your protests are starting to take effect!
Your protest against the forcing of unemployed non-church members to pay church tax in Germany is starting to take effect: the first-instance administrative court for social security and related matters ("Sozialgericht") in Freiburg now sees itself forced to put an end to its delaying tactics and has set a date for proceedings to start – 20 November 2002 – and that at unusual speed – several months sooner than the statistical average.
This, once again, is proof of what the democratic public can achieve: International attention is the best means of getting the courts in the German Church State to act and to adhere to the constitution; finally: This shows how absolutely crucial it is to act quickly and persist relentlessly – until an end is put to this clerical robbery and the wrongs committed by the state organs.
We will, of course, keep you up to date on the course of the proceedings and any further events.
